COCO MORIER AND THE LADY TIGRA - DAYTIME PARTIES

8/26/19

Technically speaking, we have about a month left of summer ‘19 but songwriter and Coco Morier and The Lady Tigra won’t have none of that.

Written by Coco Morier, The Lady Tigra and industrial dark pop queen Romy, the trio&squeeze in one final summer jam before we head back to Fall semester or come back from our Bali trips. Listen to “Daytime Parties”

COCO MORIER AND THE LADY TIGRA - DAYTIME PARTIES

The song begins with the ghost of everyone’s favorite ice cream jingle that preps you for the next two minutes of nostalgia. “Daytime Parties” is a fun hip-hop jam in the cadence of old double dutch rope tunes that you’d sing as a child.

Do you remember the summer before the fourth grade and the blistering heat that punctured the sidewalk cracks as you ran to join the other kids for a game of kickball? “Daytime Parties” lyrics encapsulate that exact moment. Coco describes the perfect summer barbecue; of delicious roasted food and the adults gathering together to scold their children and gossip about the neighborhood. Call it expert songwriting or just her badassery, but the scene is laid out perfectly.

“Daytime Parties” is lofty and light-hearted, and the video follows suit in a similar fashion. I don’t know who these people are or where they came from, but their moves are retro and We Are: The Guard is here for it.

“Daytime Parties” is available for streaming and with enough watches, Coco promises you’ll learn how to breakdance with her music video. Fun to listen to AND educational.
