GOLDSPACE CONJURE UP SOME SERIOUS GOTH POP DARKNESS ON “EVERYDAY”
She sits on the curb outside of her house waiting for something interesting to happen. Head in hands, staring as traffic goes by, secretly hoping for some kind of car accident to SLAM in front of her very eyes. Anything to break up the doldrums of every single day being the exact same.
She has dark hair, looks about 50% bit goth and 50% hipster, and is definitely wearing black (but not because it looks cool, more-so because it mirrors the darkness of her soul). Maybe this girl's name is Maia, and maybe it isn’t. That’s not what is important. Could this be the singer behind the Boston/LA based electronic goth pop duo, GOLDSPACE? We’re not sure. We don’t know her! But what we do know is that her music paints the image of quite the character.
GOLDSPACE - EVERYDAY
She picks up a blade of grass and stares at it, appreciating all it took for Mother Nature to birth this bit of Earth just for her. The sun bounces off the pavement, the glimmer nearly blinding her vision. She covers her face, but the sweat from her arm drips to her forehead. Somewhere, a car screeches in the distance, and for a moment she looks up, a smile forming on her face. She tries to hide it, but it’s there. If a car really had crashed and someone had gotten hurt, she’d certainly feel about it--as if she were a witch and caused it by the power of suggestion--but only after wiping the smirk off her face because the truth is she’s always known she had it in her.
How to conjure up such an image while listening to a song? Music is the capture of emotions, right? I’m just painting the picture of what I feel. Am I so far off? I don’t think so. This scene I’ve set… exactly what “Everyday” brings to the mind eye. Dark, emotive, and feeling everything, no matter how difficult that ends up being. Maia Quin on vocals and Andre Samuel on production are GOLDSPACE: two alum from Berklee College of Music. Well they certainly seem to be in touch with their emotions. We dig that it's a little darker than expected.
From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
