BEST OF INDIE POP - WEEK 43
Looking for new music to listen to can be a real pain in the butt, seriously and literally. Sitting around on my bottom all day makes my tush tingle, but (not pun intended) it’s all good if it means that you guys get to enjoy the outcome. You guys have lives to live and Halloween to prep for. So aren’t you glad we take care of the music recommendations for you!? Of course!
Settle back and enjoy the latest finds from Clipping, Tinahse, Iyla, and more.
CLIPPING - ALL IN YOUR HEAD
Clipping has delivered a jaw-dropping video for their single “All In Your Head” taken from their standout album There Existed an Addiction to Blood. Thanks to the direction of video director C Prinz, viewers are able to experience fresh crisp visuals of female experiences in a way that is of course very a la Clipping. The video itself feels as if it should have be part of a cultural studies course. It’s beautiful.
TINASHE - DIE A LITTLE BIT FEAT. MS BANKS
While Tinashe may express that she deserves to be a household name, audiences just don’t seem to agree. But that may soon change all thanks to her more forward way of spilling her thoughts. In “Die A Little Bit” Tinashe shows she can hang perhaps better than most RnB songstresses. But I’ll let you guys do the judging for yourselves.
GALLANT - SWEET INSOMNIA FEAT. 6LACK
With a title like “Sweet Insomnia,” you would think Gallant and 6lack would keep you up all night banging to a fire beat. Instead, we are given a somber lullaby that eases all worries from your mind. Quite frankly, I wouldn’t mind falling asleep with this ballad playing in the background.
DANILEIGH - CRAVIN FT G EAZY
In case you didn’t know … DaniLeigh wants you to know she’s hot. Again, I repeat, DaniLeigh is hawt … at least that is what we are instructed to believe. Just check out the lyrics. She’s juicy and sexy and her dancing will make you crave a juicy something. By the sounds of it, this mamacita will be hanging around for a while.
JAX JONES - THIS IS REAL FEAT. ELLA HENDERSON
I really like Jax Jones, mainly because he reminds me of the times I would be forced to go to Jazzercise classes. Back then moving around and sweating in a spandex leotard at the tender age of 10 was lame. If only I had music like Jax Jones, my 60 minutes of high kicks and hip thrusts would have been magical and worthwhile.
ASHNIKKO - STUPID FEAT. YUNG BABY TATE
What she said --- > “This seems like a realistic purge with girls just getting back at their exes.” - Lildiamond crown. Ashnikko straight up delivers creep factor to the max. Listen to me … no. Just no. Please don’t make this a Halloween costume.
MISSY ELLIOT - DRIPDEMEANER
Missy Elliot is my superhero. She seems to get ageless as time progresses . Perhaps she and Pharell Willimas seem to share the same skin care products and a doctor because they look even better with each and every audible material they put out.
BROOKE CANDY - FMU FEAT. RICO NASTY
Brooke Candy is helping us make this post drip in sex and she’s letting us feel like not having control over our urges is perfectly a-ok. Grab your dance partner and get to moving your body to the looping beat of FMU.
IYLA - CALIFORNIA
One word sums up Iyla’s “California” … GORGEOUS. When asked about the track she mentioned ‘ It’s is deeply personal, and it’s theme revolves around the heartache/heartbreak of knowing the love that you're experiencing is only temporary.”
VAGABON - IN A BIND
To leave you all with a clean palate and a clean mind we round off the list with what feels like the arrival of fall. From the moment you hit play, Vagabon’s single “In A Bind,” captures your body and mind. But like the naturally selfish people, we at times can be … we are left wanting more.
That’s all the indie-pop music we have for you today. Feel free to come back next week for more tracks or follow us on Spotify.

Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
