BEST OF INDIE POP - WEEK 38

9/18/19

This is somewhat of an alarm for all of you to help wake you up this morning. If you’re anything like me, a little music motivation will get you moving. So wake-y wake-y this week’s Indie Pop Songs will make you shakey, shakey from all the dancing you’ll be doing. I sure hope you’re ready because our curated top 10 list is full of intoxicating tunes from some of our favorite artists. No time to waste, jump out of bed, pour yourself a bowl of Apple Smacks and hit play on the following from CupkKake, Post Malone, Den Never, and more.

CUPCAKKE - WHOREGASM

I’m wasting no time in setting the tone for this playlist. “Whoregasm,” quickly heats things up. But in reference to CupcakKe’s single above … it will make some of you question if you’ve ever really experienced sexual ecstasy. My prediction is that you have but it does not compare to what you just listened to.

STEVE AOKI & BACKSTREET BOYS -  LET IT BE ME

Steve Aoki and The Backstreet Boys are the collaboration I never knew I needed. One listen to “Let It Be Me” is all it took to take me back to 1998 and see myself lip-synching to every single word in front of a mirror. This heartfelt song radiates love as we’re shown the lives of real-life couples who despite all odds have remained unitedly strong.

BROOKE CANDY - DRIP (FEAT ERIKA JAYNE)

In case “Whoregasm” was not enough, allow Brooke Candy and Erika Jayne to take you all the way to pleasure. The video for “Drip” is 2 min and 36 seconds of free x rated content. If arousal is what you’re looking for, you have landed in the right place.

CLIPPING. - LA MALA ORDINA

In case you thought that things could not get any more terrifying than what they already seem to be, Clipping. comes along to tell us that yes, things can in fact sound and seem scarier. In “La Mala Ordina,” the trio enlists Benny The Butcher, Elcamino, and The Rita to help build upon the John Carpenter theme that they’ve been riding on well. Hold on to your heads tight because you’re in for a real good tripped out jam.

3LAU - MISS ME MORE

3LAU commented that “Miss Me More” might just be his favorite track he’s ever made and we kind of 100% agree with him on that. The dance floor song is a total mood for us at the moment. We basically could lock ourselves in our room right now and have the synths on repeat for days!

TYLER, THE CREATOR - A BOY IS A GUN

Tyler’s alter ego Igor radically acts out as his loveless relationship fades away. He’s a mess, but his fight is far from over as we see at the end of the video. After his significant other departs, Igor rushes down the stairs. Will he chase her down? Will he find love again? Will he break free from heartbreak?

DANNY BROWN - BEST LIFE

Danny Brown truly is living his best life and it’s evident as we listen to his lates Q-Tip produced single “Best Life.” He lets us in on how he fought to get out of the hood and into the life he wanted to live. Give it a listen, there’s much we can appreciate from it … and stay on the lookout for his album uknowwhatimsayin, out this October.

MIKE POSNER - SLOW IT DOWN

Mike Posner is like the music form of Xanax. One listen and you’ll be automatically at ease and peace with yourself. Perhaps not that quick, you may need some wine or whatever choice of drink and then play this in the background to get your mojo going.

TYLA YAWEH - WHO SHOT JOHNNY?

You best not be sleeping on Tyla Yaweh. Taken from his debut album Heart Full of Rage, “Who Shot Johnny?” He tells Complex that Johnny basically represents every man in the hood across America … and he doesn't paint a dainty picture. He is as real as real gets.

DEB NEVER - SWIMMING

Deb Never will make you an instant fan of all things she does. You’ll never meet a cooler hoodie-wearing emo punk rapper than Deb.

That’s all the Indie Pop Music we have for you this week. Check back in next week for more and if you have suggestions let us know!

Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
