Hey guys what’s going on, it’s Kim Kardashian's non-existent internal organs here looking for a new place to call home. Anyone in need of a real waistline just hit me up, until then I’ll be hanging around the We Are: The Guard office and presenting this week’s Best Indie Pop. Today we’re featuring singles that are too dang good, too dang saucy, and too dang worthy they’ll make you want to hit play all over again.
THE VERONICAS - THINK OF ME
Australian pop duo The Veronica’s are feisty with a capital F! “Think of Me” ain’t for the prude. Their lyrics make your current and past love life seem lame. I mean have you ever had a someone so good in bed you dream of them giving you head? Have you?! The Veronica’s are that someone that you dream of or at least they claim to be.
KIM PETRAS - BLOW IT ALL
Kim Petras, if you’re blowing money all night and dropping 20k on a coat rack I want to be your new best friend. Call me, I’ll ride around the city on your bike with you and make pop bangerzzz with you.
GABRIELLE ALPIN - NOTHING REALLY MATTERS
One of the sweetest voices in pop, Gabrielle Alpin, releases visuals for her tail spinning single “Nothing Really Matters.” The video is as spellbinding as the chorus and its melody. Don’t try fighting the overall feel-good vibes, let your body embrace the bright energy radiating from Alpin.
IONNALEE - SOME BODY
ionnalee seems to only get better with every release she puts out, and the more bizarre the videos the better, they’ll cure whatever mess you got going on. Case in point with the visuals for “Some Body,” to quote YouTuber Jose Adino:

BAUM - FUCKBOY
Indie pop artist is here to state that girls can be f* kboys too...and you know what? They’re probably better at it too. Heck, BAUM proves she’s better than a guy at writing songs about not giving a sheeet ‘bout emotions when sex is involved and she’s got an infectious melody to prove it. To all the ladies out there who like to get down with no strings attached, this song is for you.
PELL - BITCH ASS
Pell fills a void that existed in the rap scene. The New Orleans rapper brings the heat when it comes to melodic rhyming, to say the least, this is pristine writing. His track “Bitch Ass” is a hypnotic poem about self love and empowerment. Pell describes the single as ““Less is more. Bitch Ass (the song) was inspired by reflection so it’s only right the video is the same. I didn’t want a bunch of b-roll and extra effects. I wanted more raw and focused energy so that people could hear the words and have to watch me say them. Miles & AJ, the directors, developed one of the most delicately constructed sets off all time.”
BAKERMAT - LEARN TO LOSE FEAT ALEX CLARE
“Learn To Lose” makes you want to dance without pants on. Or perhaps it might make you want to do handstands while chewing on a hot dog. What I’m trying to say, is that Bakermat will bring out the crazy kid with his playful sounds. And the video...oh the video is everything!
IZZY BIZU - LIGHTS ON
If you have yet to add Izzy Bizu to your “I better add her to my watch list because she gonna blow up one day” playlist then may I suggest you do so now because she gonna blow up. It won't be long before this smooth operating songstress catches the attention of those who’ve been sleeping on them goods.
BLINK - 182 x LIL WAYNE - WHAT’S MY AGE AGAIN
The only two reasons I am saying yassss to this mashup is because I was once obsessessed with Blink - 182 and in high school, I went through a weird phase where I memorized all the lyrics to Tha Carter III. Though the remake of “What’s My Age Again” is no Linkin Park x Jay Z I can appreciate the effort for trying to stay relevant. What I'm really trying to say is that this is for sheeets and giggles.
OLIVIA O’BRIEN - JUST A BOY
Getting over a boy can be brutal, but Olivia O’Brien makes it bearable thanks to her savage take on “Just A Boy.” Thanks to her reminder of not setting high expecatations when dating a boy, she’s giving the heartbroken people a reason to smile and work through the emotions a lot quicker. Watch above and take pleasure as O’Brien takes a swing at a boy pinata.
