CHRIS DAVE AND DRUMHEDZ - BLACK HOLE FEAT. ANDERSON PAAK
We Are: The Guard readers -- you know Chris Dave, right? No?
Um, actually yeah you do... if you’ve spent countless evenings soaking and crying in your bathtub to Adele’s 21. Because Chris was there. Or maybe you spent a couple summers ago twerking and grinding at seedy clubs to Justin Bieber’s Purpose? Yup. Chris was there too.
Or maybe, like me, you spent most of 2015 treating all your hangovers to the emotionally stirring Malibu by my lord and savior Anderson Paak. Show of hands? Yeah. Chris was definitely there for that.
Chris Dave has been a prolific drummer for years and ever in our lives providing the skillful beats to some of the more significant moments. Now he’s coming out with an album this week alongside The Drumhedz, and it’s already created a buzz along the music site wires. Take a listen to the single out in anticipation of the release, which features my beloved artist Anderson Paak. Listen to “Black Hole” below.
CHRIS DAVE - BLACK HOLE FEAT. ANDERSON PAAK
Paak, a fellow drummer, lends a hand to this funky and borderline-psychedelic track. The horns in “Black Hole” give the song a haunting aura, but it only lasts for so long; the song is mostly a jazzy and energetic tune whose chaos is tapered with Anderson’s vocals. And are you listening to those drums? The song’s arrangement??? Color me IMPRESSED.
Chris Dave and The Drumhedz’ self-titled album is out at the end of this week, and features more Paak, as well as Anna Wise, and SiR. Check it out or be a boring-ass square. Your call.
