As Turkey Day approaches us, the return of Ashe comes in the form of a track called “Girl Who Cried Wolf.” Is it a fairy tail ending for this Berklee graduate, or should you move on to something else here on We Are: The Guard? Work off that stuffing with this new song.

Several months prior, I reviewed the stripped down version of “Used To It,” a soft, minimalist approach to her own single. About to embark on a multi-city tour, Ashe has just dropped “Girl Who Cried Wolf” as she closed out the first week of Vevo dscvr 2018 with a live rendition. With collaborations with Louis The Child and Whethan, who happen to be her tour mates, this former Berklee School Of Music grad has suddenly seen her stock rising over the past calendar year or so.

With vocals that are sharp like a tack and deliberate percussion, this 2-minute 44-second track is filled to the brim with grandeur and drama. An impeccable mix with some layering done to satisfying effects, it does seem quite familiar some of the works presented by Danish songstress, MØ. Quick to the punch, “Girl Who Cried Wolf” displays this San Diego-based artist's musical repertoire, and perhaps distinguishing listeners might be able to discern her inclinations from other pop competitors.
