TOP DANCE SONGS - WEEK 42 2014
WHAT UP INTERNET? What did you do this week? Did you consume something with Pumpkin flavoring? Did you drink a beverage that contained alcohol? Did you see any live music? Did you chill out low-key on the internet and link your homies to all the best shit? Whatever you spent your last 6 days doing, it's okay, it's all in the past 'cause it's MONDAY and that means you get 10 new songs from your favorite dude on the internet that gives you ten songs on a Monday on BitCandy!
This week we have some new Shift K3Y, A Bassnectar Side Project, and some new acid (FINALLY) from Boys Noize for you. Plus check out SNBRN, The Funk Hunters and Rell the Sounbender if you ain't familiar. You gonna have your world rocked. I Promise*
*I don't promise.
THE FUNK HUNTERS - 2014 SHAMBHALA AV MIX
2014/2015 we're going to start seeing funk break into the mainstream. With GRiZ leading the charge and Big GRiZmatik headlining NYE in Denver (RUMORED), the kids are ready to get funky. The Funk Hunters are leading the Funk Charge at the Funk Capital of the World (Shambhala Music Festival). This is their AV set from the Funkiest Lil Village in the World, The Fractal Forest. Get ready to FUNK some shit up.
NEOSIGNAL - WAKE UP
We feeling this new neosignal EP at BitCandy. Last week we hit you a different new song, but this one is far weirder and more aggressive than that one. We ain't saying that's a bad thing. No way. At BitCandy we're always looking for something we never heard before. I've never heard this so much I can't even describe it. It's glitchy, with dubstep undertones and electro drive? If you know what that means then more power to you.
RELL THE SOUNDBENDER & TWINE - DOMESHOT
Said it before and I'll say it again, OWSLA is leading the charge at releasing fresh shit. Here's Rell The Soundbender & Twine with just a lil tiny preview, and some heavy hitting bass that fits in perfectly with the label's sound right now. A little Moombahtrapbassstep or whatever multitude of genres you feel like stringing together. Ain't nothing wrong with a little bit of everything.
DR. KUCHOL & GREGOR SALTO - CAN'T STOP PLAYING (OLIVER HELDENS & GREGOR SALTO REMIX)
I had a weekend full of future house concerts in LA. Between Kygo's HUGE tropical house sound (yes, this is part of future house, IMO), the first 20 minutes of the Jack Beats set on their Night Bass tour (played their remix of Gecko (Overdrive), and TWO Tchami tracks, I'd like to say that Future House is officially moved in, not paying rent and eating all the Cheetos. Listen to Oliver Heldens & Gregor Salto's Remix of Can't Stop Playing for your Monday dose.
MAELSTROM - ADVERSARIAL DESIGN
Now that Gesaffelstein hit the big time, the dark techno hipsters can look to Maelstrom as the new savior.
BOYS NOIZE - ALARM (WHO AM I O.S.T.)
Boys Noize making some Acid again is something to be very happy about indeed. This is MY favorite Boys Noize track in years. When I first started listening to Boys Noize I kept saying that I really wanted him to score horror movies. Here we are 4 years later and he's composing the music for an Oscar Winning Producer's new Hacker Thriller. So, you were on to something, weren't you Kurt?
DIRTY SOUTH - UNBREAKABLE (SNBRN REMIX)
It's like Highlander -- there can only be one. One of what though, Kurt? There can only be one funky pool party vibe remix maestro at a time. When I first heard Viceroy's "Jet-Life" remixes I was blown right out of my swimmy trunks. But now the scene has moved towards a chiller tropical house sound and SNBRN pounced on that shit. Every remix is Gold, but here we get a little progressive house in our tropical house thanks to the King Dirty South. The real question though, is this remix also in the movie… or?
DIGITAL LAB & APE DRUMS - WICKED (PREVIEW)
I'm absolutely positive that Ape Drums are crushing it right now opening up on Kill the Noise's Majestic as Fak tour. I approve of trappy producers moving away from high-hats, hyphy-hats, and big-room drop hats and getting creative with their sounds. Ima group Ape Drums in with SNAILS and Botnek on that new class of kids killing the game. Keep inventing.
SHIFT K3Y - NOT INTO IT
Genres are fucking stupid because they are made up buckets that allow people to categorize specific sounds into more easily quantifiable buckets. But I like the middle ground between them. Duh, you read my posts. You know that I love referring to things as Space Acid Crunk and BassTrance, BUT a real artist AC Slater came up with House & Bass. It's that House Music sound with those fat fucking baselines. Shift K3Y is one of the frontrunners on that shit right now. Absolutely crushing it with every release he has. Here's his new track. Hell, Annie Mac is "into it," why aren't you?
BASSNECTAR & JANTSEN - LOST IN THE CROWD FT. FASHAWN & ZION I (LOCOJA REMIX)
Locoja is a new side-project between Bassnectar and Jantsen. Here, the two of them got back together to remix their track for Bassnectar's Noise vs. Beauty album and it's fucking beautiful. This remix album is stellar so far and I am so happy to see Lorin upping himself with each production. He is the unheralded King of dance music. Let's bow to our Lord. I can't wait to see what Locoja has in store for us. The branding of this as a side project means we're going to get more music from these two -- and any music is good music when it comes to Bassnectar. Dude doesn't know how to do it wrong.

Thanks (AGAIN) as always for listening to my songs and reading my dumb shit. I hope you hadn't heard some of these tracks and liked most of them. That's the best I can hope for.
About Kurt Kroeber
From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
