BEST ALTERNATIVE POP - WEEK 37 PART 2 2014
Need more music in your life? I’m thinking we all do. Put your fapping on hold, tell you momma you’ll call her back in 20 cuz we’ve collected a couple of decent tracks that need your attention right now. Help yourselves to this week’s second serving of alternative pop songs featuring The Griswolds, Lil Wayne, clipping., Priory, and a couple other worthy artists. Scroll through and enjoy.
THE GRISWOLDS - BEWARE THE DOG
Awwe, sounds like the Aussie lads are dealing with a case of psycho ex girlfriend. Nice to see that the indie rock band can make light of the situation by creating a relatable fun song with a pretty descriptive video that is very comparable to shit that I’ve had to put up with.
LIL WAYNE - KRAZY
I’m truly diggin the direction of Lil Wayne’s last Carter series. I’ve been a fan and supporter of his work, but that aside he kills it on Krazy. And his interpretation efforts of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest would make Jack Nicholson chuckle cuz no one does a crazy like Jack. But in all seriousness, my respects to Lil Wayne.
CLIPPING. - INSIDE OUT [OFFICIAL VIDEO]
I’m loving the direction of rap these days. The rap trio has created what is in my opinion, one of the hottest tracks of the year. They’re the Quentin Tarantino + Guillermo del Torro of rap. A delightful jagged ride from start to finish.
CALVIN HARRIS FEAT. JOHN NEWMAN - BLAME (AUDIO)
This is the kind of song I’d be dancing to half naked on top of bar of some ultra hip club after five shots of tequila and red bull vodka as a chaser. Radio fluff and filler.
PRIORY - WEEKEND (OFFICIAL VIDEO)
Portland’s electro pop duo is about to get hit in the face with a catapult of success. Weekend is the perfect unambiguous pop song to jump start your day and bring out the hipster inside you.
SAM SMITH COVERS TRACY CHAPMAN’S FAST CAR IN THE LIVE LOUNGE
If dry martinis and piano lounges are your thing, then this Sam Smith cover of Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car is right up your alley. Take a listen above and let me know if you it’s too jazzy for your liking.
NEW POLITICS - EVERYWHERE I GO (KINGS AND QUEENS)
This song will be heard Everywhere I Go. Ha. So I may have the biggest lady boner on all three lads because it’s 7 am and this is the first song to make me press the replay button. It’s such a great follow up to Harlem and a reminder of why I/we fell in love with them.
JAYMES YOUNG - COME BACK FOR ME
Having eagerly anticipating new music from mega talented Jaymes Young, Come Back For Me, does not disappoint. Doesn’t take long before you find yourself submerged in a seductive vibe.
MONTOYA - CARRY OCEANS
The biggest surprise of the week comes from French indie pop artist Montoya. Carry Oceans is a stunning single. Keep an eye out for Montoya, she sounds very promising.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD - WARM (FEAT. RAURY)
Warm is similar to the band's previous work. Not very different or experimental, but for what it is, it’s a sexy as hell song.

And we’ve come to an end. Gonna wrap this up quick cuz a shit ton of songs are waiting to be heard. See ya next week and until then share us with your friends. xoxo
About Beca Arredondo
Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
