New Finds: Postiljonen

12/6/12

If you sully your expectations of this Swedish trio's vibe in the winded sails of a Nordic lost love as pastorally defined in the video for a tune called "How Will I Know/All That We Had Is Lost," well, don't. Click play, close eyes and ruminate on the Memoryhouse tension and an otherwise cheesy-smooth jazz sax muscle that strewn along with a warm fog of a lead vocal just destroys any realization that we're all ball-and-chained to a computer right now. Not pulled with the intensity of a Sigur Ros swell, but rather a mediative pop adventure that reminds you of the breathy healing powers of legit chillwave:

Why the Nordic sonic landscape continues to create more epic journeys will forever be a thorn in America's side. You'll hear soft-lens bits of what Minnesota supergroup Gayngs failed to do in Postiljonen's small oeuvre. And of course the aforementioned Memoryhouse recorded voice mashes. But they are called Postiljonen. Which the internets tells us means either a 'post man' or a 'stamp auction house'. And that's just all sorts of lame, considering the early 80s synth dancefoor vibes of some of their other stuff, like "We Raise Our Hearts." So sunrise, sunset.
