BEST EDM - WEEK 26 2014

Heyyy i just got back from EDC and now I'm in Iowa City on my way to Electric Forest. It was pretty much the best thing ever. AS EXPECTED. Above is a picture of my Ravefam (+3 strangers) after the sunrise Eats Everything set on Monday morning. I'm going to keep it pretty brief this week 'cause I'm lacking on sleep, and have an abundance of driving hours.

WILKINSON FEAT. BECKY HILL - AFTERGLOW [LIVE]

Let's start with some EDC shit, shall we? Becky Hill showed up to sing Afterglow with the new King of DnB, Wikinson. My friend turned to me during the set and referred to him as "the new Sub Focus." There were maybe 200 (our of 120,000) people watching this with us. But it was our highlight, and one of the best ways to close out the festival.

Y'all missed out. 

PORTER ROBINSON - LIONHEARTED (FEAT. URBAN CONE)

All my homies that spent most of their time at the EDC main stages said this was the song that they couldn't escape. Good thing it's fucking awesome. Porter, just wish you had been there to play it.

ALEX METRIC & OLIVER - HOPE

All my homies that spent most of their time at the Hard stage at EDC (me included) couldn't escape this song.  Good thing it's fucking awesome.  Alex Metric and Oliver on the other hand, were both there to play it.  As well as everyone fucking else at the festival.

GRANDTHEFT & KEYS N KRATES - KEEP IT 100

A couple of the Kings of Trap come together here and make a certified trap gem. Keep it 100 is going to be a trap anthem for as long as trap continues to be around… which will be another year or two max.

BASSNECTAR & EXCISION - PUT IT DOWN (CRIZZLY REMIX)

At EDC I saw Bassnectar fucking destroy the Speedway. Then I saw Destroid get fucking weird and heavy and it was awesome and super interesting. But when Crizzly came on, my friends said, "I don't like Crizzly" and we all walked away.

That's what I feel about this track right now. Ima walk away.

UBERJAK'D & WILL SPARKS - HARD NATION

Uberjak'd & Will Sparks should just permanently come together as a Bounce supergroup. The sum is better than the parts here.  They bring cool shit out of each other and this is a Bounce banger to keep Bounce relevant for at least the rest of the year.

I AM X-RAY - PRETTY LITTLE RAVER GIRL

Check out this ghetto YouTube video for this happy hardcore song. In my day all you had to was talk to a girl on AIM, not make a cheesy-ass video for her. Do you think he proposed at EDC?

ZHU - FADED (ODESZA REMIX)

I wanted to say that Odesza came in and made this song better but that's impossible. How could this song be any better? This entire ZHU EP is fucking out of control. Odesza made a great remix, but it ain't shit compared to the original.

Side note: I love to exaggerate. This is legit great.

MYNGA FEAT. COSMO KLEIN - BACK HOME (ORIGINAL MIX)

I feel like I'm cheating if I use the same vocabulary as the post on soundcloud, but whatever. I'm HUNGOVER as fuck. MYNGA calls this a summer track and it's summery as fuck. It's got great post-deep house vibes and I could groove to this. The vocals seem like something that Kaskade would use. It reminds me of something from the Kaskade Redux set (on an Art Car.) Oh, you weren't paying attention to IG like I was the day before EDC? Well boo-boo.

JIMMY EDGAR - HARD SUMMER 2014 MIXTAPE

Missed Jimmy Edgar at EDC 'cause they gave him a 7PM slot and only let him play for a half an hour. WTF, Insomniac? Fucking over the new King of Techno? This mix is hard as fuck. I guess I'm going to have to wait till my homecoming back to LA at Hard Summer. HARD FUCKING TECHNO ALL FUCKING DAY BITCHES.
