TOP INDIE POP - WEEK 9 2014
Who needs a bowl of Wheaties to start the day off right when you have a list full of hot ear crack waiting for you? And yes I am aware it’s only Tuesday, but PopSmut will be perking your ears and titties twice this week because indie bands have really stepped up the game over the past couple of days. Rarely does this happen and when it does we make the tune-age rain like Lil’Wayne at a strip club. Scroll through and enjoy the tasty beats below.
BIG DATA - “DANGEROUS (FEAT. JOYWAVE)” [OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO]
This is one producer you’ll want to bookmark. The paranoid electro pop track is a big sound that showcases Alan’s raw talent. Oh geez, I’m calling him by his real name, yeah I’m sort of crushing on him big time. His looks are as easy to the eye as his music is to the ears.
GALANTIS - YOU (ORIGINAL MIX)
I obviously missed the memo when this track hit the internets. The power duo’s original mix is a bit of a creeper. Don’t get too comfortable with the beginning; after the beat drops (ugh I hate that term) it’s an upbeat track with a catchy power hook.
THE HOOD INTERNET - WITHOUT PRESSURE (QUEEN & DAVID BOWIE x DILLION FRANCIS & TEED)
A brand new mashup from the KINGS of mashup. Heavy on the Freddie and easy on the synths, this is one track that just completely blows my mind. How they do it I don’t know, but I love what ever it is they do.
DRUNK IN LOVE (WEEKND REMIX)
Beyonce girl, you gitz competition. Two weeks in a row where another artist’s cover is better than your original. The Weeknd’s vocals are oh so smooth they make me go oooh aaahhh. The smooth arrangement makes this remix one of my favs.
BASTILLE - FLAWS (THE CHAINSMOKERS REMIX)
The Chainsmokers are at it again! This time they deliver an undeniable mouth watering dance remix (wait a second, every track they put out is undeniably dance worthy) of Bastille’s single Flaws and as cheezy as I know I sound, the track is flawless...deal with it.
MAPEI - DON’T WAIT
Mapei has us twirled on her fingers. She is the biggest surprise for me as far as one of my new top favorite indie artists. If you’re looking for a ridiculously fresh sound Mapei is your girl.
DU TONC - SURGING MEMORIES
Despite having had featured Du Tonc a couple times in the past, I haven’t given them the much needed love they deserve. Where the heck has my mind been these past 9 months? How could I have let this gem slip through the tracks?!
FIR BDK - OPEN ONES EYES
Our curator Duffster recently turned us on to Swedish electro pop duo For BDK’s. Their track is effing brilliant and translates into something beyond anything I can explain. All I can say is that it’s an unforgettable track and visual that will be on heavy repeat at my pad.
pomDeter - Episode NO.5
For shits and giggles and the sake of getting of my lazy ass I’m highlighting this epic bootie mashup. It’s my post and I’ll post what I want to!
MR. LITTLE JEANS - GOOD MISTAKE
Closing out the post is Mr. Little Jeans and I’m freaking glad she decided to come back with new material! This track swims through a pool of electro pop synths and wins back my heart.

Hate to end the fun, but I’ll be back tomorrowz with more delicious chow for you. Oh and while you wait for part deux, feel free to share us with your friends and let us know how we’re doing via our Facebook, Twitter, or G+.
About Beca Arredondo
Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
