SONG PREMIERE: RABBII - MAJESTIC (DAVE AUDÉ REMIX)
RABBII rises again with an epic island remix of last year's "Majestic" by Grammy award winning producer Dave Audé in time to return hope for the Spring!
Last year's "Majestic" from Sweden's RABBII is a celebration - of chilled beats; Johanna Berglund's sweet, silken vocals cresting over waves over glowing, growling synths. "Majestic" is a misfit's anthem, reminding us of our inherent worthiness, our inner greatness, exactly as we are, not as we should be or others tell us to be.
It's a perennial message that never loses its relevance. Luckily, RABBII are returning with a recombinant remix of Grammy-award winning remixer Dave Audé.
RABBII - MAJESTIC (DAVE AUDÉ REMIX)
Dave Audé's reworking of "Majestic" trades in the permafrost and northern lights of Lund, Sweden for white sand beaches and turquoise waves. The beats are slightly less chilled, served thawed, cut-up and interspersed with catherine wheels of carnivalesque synths while the steady-rolling club beat is chopped to a neo-digital dancehall bop, irresistible and infectious. It's the first proper release we've had from RABBII this year, a follow-up to a single collaboration with Solarstone, "Untitled Love," released on Black Hole Recordings.
Audé has nurtured several up-and-coming artists with his uplifting production and remixes, having worked previously with the brightest stars in the Pop firmament. Audé's helmed the desks for everyone from Katy Perry to Rihanna to J. Lo, Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Beyoncé. You can hear a bit of each in "Majestic," poppy and experimental by turns, in the best possible way.
RABBII - which stands for Revolutions Are Beautiful Before Initial Inception - had a hope and a message with "Majestic"'s ode to radical self-acceptance. "As the worlds turns darker now is the time to see the beauty of round pegs in square holes,” RABBII told The Line Of Best Fit when "Majestic" was first released. "Majestic' is about the beauty of the misfits, what I wish I knew when I was 14, that we might be down, but we will rise again."
Times haven't gotten any less dark since "Majestic" was first released, sad to say. "Majestic"'s message is even more resonant and relevant in 2018, when it seems like radical love and acceptance of ourselves and others is truly a revolutionary act.
So here's to the misfits, the round pegs and beautiful souls. Let Sweden's RABBII and Dave Audé take you away from your troubles, four minutes at a time. It's a trip you'll want to take again and again.
