NEW ARTIST FINDS: CORBU
Meet Corbu, a five piece electronic indie band straight out of Brooklyn, NY. New artists Todd, Amanda, Julian, and Brian are fronted by song writer and producer, Jonathan Graves, who take inspiration from everything from dreams and nature to Kubrick. According to the band’s Facebook page, their sound can be summed up as “’78 ski lodge rock with beats” and I think it’s perfectly fitting. For fans of dreamy, indie rock with electronic elements (think Boards of Canada meets Cut Copy), this band is definitely for you!
CORBU - WE ARE SOUND
Corbu’s track, “We Are Sound,” is a solid track that is being remixed left and right (and also happens to be the name of their debut EP). The original track opens with electric guitar and a simple, tight drum beat that instantly mellows you out after a long day with it’s squeaky clean sound. The vocals are repetitive but soothing, complementing the song perfectly. It’s the type of song that should be playing the morning after you had a wild night of partying, but luckily wake up to discover that everyone is still alive, the sun is still shining, and the birds are chirping like a scene out of a Disney movie.
CORBU - WE ARE SOUND (CHARLES WEBSTER ECLECTIC MIX)
The Charles Webster Eclectic Mix of the track still embodies the soothing vibe of the original, but the electronic beats and synths make you forget that you’re listening to the same song. This remix will leave you in a happy, dreamlike daze that you will want to come back to again and again.
CORBU - WE ARE SOUND (CHARLES WEBSTER CLUB MIX)
The Charles Webster Club Mix gives the track a slightly more upbeat makeover, featuring electronic elements and a beat that will make you want to get out of bed even on the sleepiest of days.
