I need to warn you guys, that I am the one true admin behind the Facebook page, “BAN CHRISTMAS MUSIC” which should tell you what kind of person I am during the holidays. So yeah, I’m Scrooge (for most of the year, if I’m honest), but even though I want to set my ears on fire every time I hear Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas” at the mall…. Christmas indie music? I can totally get behind that. Especially if it’s a jazzy, feel-good rendition of a classic. So enough ranting: Here’s EMAN8’s, formerly Brandyn Burnette, take on “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” which has melted the borders and icicles surrounding my icy little heart. Thanks, boo.

Gone are the sappy vocalizations of, well, practically every cover you’ve heard of this track -- Why has it always been a dreary listen anyway? EMAN8 knows what I’m talking about, and what we get is a stylistic and bouncy vibe that better matches how the holidays should feel. “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” under Brandyn’s musical direction sounds like a roaring family party with spiked eggnog and extravagant gifts that you actually want (not that it, um, matters or anything…)
Also, his voice is to die for and makes me swoon a little. When he hits those high notes, it’s like getting a kiss under the mistletoe -- or at least I’m assuming (this year is my lucky year!!! I swear!!).
