FROOGLE KNOWS THAT GREAT THINGS REQUIRE “PATIENCE” AND WE’RE HERE FOR IT

Luis Andres Ricardo (aka Froogle), woke up one morning to a major Spotify Editorial win, receiving support from New Music Friday, Lorem, and Outliers to name a few. The reason? A little bit of luck and a whole lotta talent. Genre bending track “Flow Now,”  had caught the ear of curators and listeners alike.

The Houston-based left-of-center indie pop artist now brings us a brand new vibey track, “Patience.” “Patience” features sing-song melodies and lyrics about how “everything great takes time,” over a lush beat combining indie pop, funk, R&B, and hip hop sensibilities. After a successful string of singles, he is focussed, introspective, and continues to push the boundaries of genres on “Patience.”

We’ve taken the week to fall in love with “Patience,” and today, Froogle has shared a breakdown of the lyrics via his “In Front Of The Lyrics - Clarified” video, a nod to Genius’ “Behind the Lyrics,” segment.

We had the chance to catch up with Froogle and ask a few questions about his life, his writing, and “Patience.”

We Are: The Guard: What does your typical routine look like over this quarantine summer? 

Froogle: I try to wake up around 8 and go to bed before midnight. I’m either working on finishing music, starting new ideas, practicing guitar, graphic design or youtubing, just about anything. Most mornings, I go to my grocery store, get a pollo asado, and make chicken tacos the whole day for $8.

We Are: The Guard: What’s something you’re uber passionate about i.e. a hobby, interest, cause, quirky or unexpected thing about you that people might not guess and can you tell us a little about that?

Froogle: I don’t want to brag, but I used to be ranked in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater for top 10 highest point combo.

WATG: You touch on an important life lesson in “Patience.” What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?

F: Be like water. I think the ability to adapt and handle situations is a great trait to have, trying to have perspective and understanding.

WATG: I was going to ask for a lyric breakdown, but you already blessed us with that through the In Front of the Lyrics video! What inspired you to do that?

F: I just always imagined myself doing one of those one day, so I took it upon myself. That DIY spirit.

WATG: You say that the best things in life take time. Was there a specific moment or event that inspired you to write this song?

F: Working really hard at music, pounding my head against the wall, and finally having support and the skillset to possibly make this a feasible career is the most exciting thing.
