FAODAIL’S “WREN” IS MOOD MUSIC FOR UNCERTAIN TIMES
It’s not the end of the world, but it sure seems like it might be. That being said these times are incredibly uncertain. Between--well, I don’t need to get into all of that, do I?-- How about we just listen to this song and feel a bit better about it all for four and a half minutes.
If it WERE the end of the world and society was set to crumble into nothingness where we all had to fend for ourselves (ala The Road Warrior or Wall-E) then I’d feel a lot better with the music of Faodail in my pocket. “Wren” is a bit of calming intensity. Soothing mood music for the end times. Sounds that can simultaneously ease your soul while helping to push you toward overcoming the trials and tribulations of having to uproot your family and move to the mountains or take to the ocean, anywhere but here. A new place where we will be able to start fresh.
“WREN” - FAODAIL
Shoot “Wren” off into space. Let it be beamed back here in a hundred years when we have it all better figured out that we do right now. This song would likely become the national anthem of a new world. One that came close to the brink and pulled back just in time to save themselves. There is an underlying sadness to these patient piano keys, a brooding emotionality that can only be understood by those who’ve gone through seriously tough times and come out the other side.
Faodail follows a long tradition of gorgeously progressive and expansive electronic music. His songs would be welcome in a Tycho DJ set or played at sunrise at Burning Man. I’m picturing myself standing on a cliff face, facing the ocean or clouds of fog rolling, plains as far as the eye can see. It’s a big world out there and yes it IS still here. We must treasure every moment while we still have it. “Wren” is definitely powerful if I’m moved to believing there is hope for us all.
From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
