BEST NEW TRACKS: OMAR APOLLO - ALGO FEAT. DRAYCO MCCOY
Here at We Are: The Guard, I am happy to deliver something new and fresh on an almost daily basis. For today, the new track named “Algo” is the brainchild of bilingual musician Omar Apollo and rapper Drayco McCoy, each flourishing in Indiana, a state not known for its indie music scene.
OMAR APOLLO - ALGO FEAT. DRAYCO MCCOY
Two of Indiana's newest and finest musicians got together for one promising collaboration. Fronted by Omar Apollo, a guy with a guitar and a whole lot of soul, and the sharp and cutting rhymes from Drayco McCoy, their latest release is an easy listen that is difficult to assign to a particular genre. Maybe that is why the name “Algo” seems so fitting. Both are still rising up in a market not known from their indie music, but thanks to the viral nature of the internet, a big label signing can come soon through the pipeline.
Their collaborative track called “Algo” features guitar riffs that have been a common attribute of his handful of songs. The bilingual lyrics are quite the unique draw of this song, and Apollo's falsetto-filled vocals deliver them in the most pleasant of methods. McCoy makes only a brief appearance, but his rap fits in so well with the rest of this rebuilding of modern soul. Unlike some rap interludes, it doesn't seem forced and the two styles mesh together rather well.
Perhaps naming it as a pop tune can be the easiest way to describe it. Luckily, this might be the sole problem I have with the song. The rest of it can provide one of the best decisions on your newest playlist. Just play and repeat.
