BEST NEW SONGS: ELK ROAD - HANGING BY A THREAD (JUST A GENT REMIX)

Australian-based producer JUST A GENT describes himself as “just your everyday gentleman making your not so everyday dance music,” and once you hear his remix of ELK ROAD’s “Hanging by a Thread,” you’ll quickly see what he means.

JUST A GENT replaces the original’s almost tropical vibe with a punchier EDM feel, while leaving Natalie Foster’s gorgeous pop vocals in a ethereal haze. The track has a pretty epic build for its first minute, as a lonesome baseline provides the platform for Foster’s vocals. Soon twinkling electronics and strobing effects come in to throw you into the track’s unexpected drop. The pounding bass synths are a little off-putting at first, but it quickly all comes together into a hard-hitting dance-inducing track that you’ll find yourself quickly coming back to.

And he does it again just before the 2 minute mark-- Just when you think things are going in a sparkling and light direction, he takes you by surprise and throws you head first into a controlled, distorted chaos that proves he’s not afraid to take chances. We can’t wait to see what he has for us next time!
