BEST NEW POP: LUME - TIP OF YOUR THUMB

I know I really like a song when I don’t want to start off my post with a crappy joke.

I’m calling it now -- after a dismal year of pop music in 2017 (We let Ed Sheeran be waaaaay more prominent than he needed to be), we’ll arrive at a new golden age where pop is creative, enlightening, and very much UNLIKE The Chainsmokers.

So let me introduce you to Lume, a rising female artist whose newly released single is reflective, intelligent, and delicately crafted with purpose. It’s a thinking woman’s pop song, if you will. Listen to “Tip of Your Thumb” down below, and I pray the irony of the lyrics don’t get lost on you if you’re reading this post on your phone.

LUME - TIP OF YOUR THUMB

In what is obviously an intended homage to chaingang tunes, Lume melodically chants some insight on the technological frenzy of our lives. “Tip of Your Thumb” is smart and the layers behind it -- down to the hints of entrapment that the track’s rhythm entails -- make for one of the more unique pop songs to recently come out.

And I say this, well aware that it took me an extra hour to write this because I have a Youtube cat channel open on another tab and I’m also trying to keep up with a Facebook argument I started on another…
