BEST NEW INDIE POP: PHOEBE RYAN - DARK SIDE
Who doesn’t love good pop? Phoebe Ryan’s new song, “Dark Side," is just another one of her dance-worthy contributions to the music world. In 2016 alone, Phoebe put out three of her own tracks, co-wrote a Britney Spears song (“Man on the Moon”) and collaborated with fellow newcomers, The Chainsmokers and The Knocks.
She is finally releases her highly-anticipated debut album later this year, but “Dark Side” is a strong standalone that is about as vibrant as her neon green hair. It’s really a jam made for the radio, to blast during standstill traffic or to wake you up on your way to work. It’s not difficult to picture someone singing along to catchy lyrics about the ever-inspiring perils of love: “At your worst, you're the best / Baby I don't want another version, no / Hard to love, hard to trust / But don't change/ Don't be a better person for me.”

That jaunty rhythm is thanks to producers Elof Loely and Jason Gill, who are credited for a few of Tove Lo’s hits. That familiar sound will definitely help her win over Tove Lo fans when she goes on tour with the “High” pop star this month. Basically, Phoebe Ryan has all the tools and talent to be the next big thing on the music scene.
