BEST OF INDIE POP - WEEK 8
Today is Wednesday which means two things, we’re two days away from Friday, but most importantly it’s time for a another fresh round of the Best in Alternative or Indie Pop from the past seven days. We’re serving up these tracks hot straight out of the oven and ready to feed your ears, and if you’re craving more musaak you can help yourself to seconds, or thirds, play our list as many times as you want, you’ll never have to worry about us ever running dry. So with that, let’s turn it up to this week’s featured artists including DENM, BARK, JOHN k., and more.
DENM - GOOD VIBES FEAT GNASH
We’re kicking off the list with smashing new single from California garage pop DENM. “Good Vibes” featuring gnash is the only thing you need in life right now. The newly released collaborative single forms part of DENM’s latest EP Is Whatever and at first listen, there is much to appreciate. Still sticking to his unmistakable laid back vibe, the artist finds a balance between pop sensibilities and a genuine soulful sound that easily captures listener’s attention.
ELOHIM - FUCK YOUR MONEY
I want whatever she’s having please. Elohim is one bad a*$. Her debut album has yet to drop and she’s already got three bangers under her belt like “Fuck Your Money.” I don’t know what being high on love feels like, but after watching the visuals above it leaves me wanting to do some experimenting with love.
BARK - COLD AND SILENT (FEAT. KRYSTAL HAWES)
The music collective BARK formed by Alexsey Artemov and Alessio Casalini are a must listen to this week. Their single “Cold and Silent” gives off an unsettling vibe driven by a dark eerie vocal that seems perfectly fitting for an equally unsettling visual. Their trip hop beat intensify the chilling sensation that something very bad is about to happen in the video above. More please!
JOHN K. - BEST OF ME
Yes, this is us being completely biased with this track. Why? You mean why not? JOHN k. Was originally introduced to us as a 2018 Best New Artist, so we did what one would naturally do when tipped on a new song from a must listen to act. We played “ Best of Me” and instantly fell in love with the genuine emotion. Its silky dream like vibe makes a perfect listen for basically everyone.
SUPERORGANISM - REFLECTIONS ON THE SCREEN
The eight piece collective that has become the internet's most popular contender for being the mostest at originality is back with a track a bit more somber than previous efforts. “Reflections On The Screen” gives new meaning to what it is to reflect. Enjoy, reflect, replay, reflect, regret, and burn your computer!!!
FRANK LEON - HUFFING PAINT
I hate to do this to anyone who has recently lost somebody, but I think you’ll find something to connect to in the latest single from Chicago’s Frank Leone. “Nowadays I cry even when I'm in the bank / Getting money through the night ain't ever brighten my day / So namaste, my body, apologies for all the dank / Imma stain my body with my dead brother's name.”
DIPLO - LOOK BACK (FEATURING DRAM)
The only thing I wish DIPLO would look back on and reconsider is that hair thing he’s got going on. But I guess when you make bigger than life music like “Look Back” my opinion really does not matter. His collaboration with DRAM is a spiritual awakening that at first listen you’ll be swept away.
SAINT JHN - I HEARD YOU GOT TOO LIT LAST NIGHT
Rapper/songwriter SAINt JHN is well on his way to being a household name. With only 3 songs to his solo career, the artist has racked up over 10 million streams. His newest single “I Heard You Got Too Lit Last Night” is something we’ve all been guilty of doing, but now we can hold our head up high and proud ‘cuz SAINt JHN has made a song just for us. #YEAHIGOTLITLASTNIGHTSOWHAT
RICH BRIAN - COLD
I bet nobody realized that Rich Brian had so much oomph going on. The guy has some serious rapping skills and if that’s not enough for you, he’s going for the gold with his magical ice skating routine. 10 out of 10 from us!
FELIX JAEHN - COOL FEATURING MARC E BASSY, GUCCI MANE
We’re wrapping things up with song so good it will be stuck in your head fooorrrever. The 22 year old producer gets your body moving to a tropical beat leaving you ready to hit the dance floor. With vocals from crooner Marc e Bassy and Gucci Mane “Cool” is here to remind you to never forget where you came from and always be true to yourself. #preachit #amen

Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
