BEST OF INDIE POP - WEEK 33

8/15/18

Poor us, we’ve been having a rough few weeks with the inferno like weather here in SoCal, but it’s summer and we’d be morons if we were to complain about the heat. So rather than bantering about how I spent five minutes this morning peeling myself out of my car, I’ll just tell you about the ten indie pop songs we’ve been obsessed with this week. Scroll through and press play on the following from FRND, Rüfüs Du Sol, Sasha, and more.

SASHA - WATERWORKS

For those times you just want to close your eyes and twirl until you hurl there is indie songstress Sasha with her recently released single “Waterworks.” Exploring a new chapter in her life, Sasha works in her own personal growth into the song above. With “Waterworks” it’s about losing control and sharing with everyone your problems.

FRND - BEFORE U I DIDN’T EXIST

We all dream of one day hearing eight magical syllables. Those syllables turn your world upside down and change you in ways you never imagines. “Before U I Didn’t Exist” draws out the feeling of being alive all thanks to a special someone. FRND will make you feel giddy and happy not only because of the bubbly melody but the anime video that accompanies it.

TKAY MAIDZA - FLEXIN’ FT DUCKWORTH

Australian rapper Tkay Maidza is getting ready to release Last Year Was Weird Vol. 1 EP available August 31st. The EP includes will include “Flexin’” and by the sounds of it, it’s going to be crazy good. Judging off this one track it’s safe to say Tkay is here to stay.

TROYE SIVAN - ANIMAL

We’ve got love songs a pleaty to pick and choose from but this one right here hits us in the feels. Troye Sivan offers up the love song of the summer. Co-written by our sister company Brill Building’s talented Bram Inscore, “Animal” will whisk you away with its delicate soothing melody. Enjoy this one with the one you love the mostest

ELINA - HERE WITH ME

Singer-songwriter Elina is as honest and as pure as they come. She elegantly throws out her feelings into writing for us to enjoy and to embrace the emotion that comes with listening to her beauty.

LOUIS THE CHILD, MAX - DEAR SENSE

According to Louis The Child, “Dear Sense” is “about dealing with this constant loss of sense." That’s something I’m very familiar with but never got a chance to write a song about it, thank fully L.T.C. and MAX have my back and were able to capture exactly what I was thinking.

XYLØ  - I DON’T WANT TO SEE YOU ANYMORE

XYLØ creates a bop that has you hooked from beginning to end. “I Don’t Want To See You Anymore,” will have you dancing yourself into the night and forgetting about whatever loser you are trying to forget about.

RÜFÜS DU SOL - UNDERWATER

RÜFÜS DU SOL takes us on an auditory adventure to a place of euphoria. Words can not justify the beauty, so just listen, enjoy, and thank me later.

MAGGIE ROGERS - GIVE A LITTLE

Maggie Rogers is totes adorbs in those white cowgirl boots of hers. Watching her dance around with her gals makes you want to be one of her BFF’s. This optimist spreads positivity all around.

ELLE KING - SHAME

We’re wrapping up with a guilty pleasure of mine. Elle King’s “Shame” will get your booty moving and curling your upper lip all thanks to the rock infused sound and her bewitching vocals that leave you shaking.

Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
