BEST INDIE POP - WEEK 27
With Summer in full swing and America celebrating another birthday, this long weekend is about to get even better. We spent our entire week searching up the best indie-pop songs to help keep your party going. Thanks to the featured artists below, you and your friends can stay up and sweat off the effect of alcohol or whatever you're on. Let’s give it up to Galantis, Tierra Whack, Rich Brian, and more.
TIERRA WHACK - CLONES
Tierra Whack’s name describes her style perfectly. She lives up to being whack as she’s striking forcefully with a sharp blow to all those who are trying to copy, not imitate but straight up steal her originality. As a clap back she’s penned “Clones” and for those watching the video, a word of caution, it’s so good it will leave you hitting the replay.
POST MALONE - GOODBYES FT YOUNG THUG
Awwww maaaah gawwwdd. Shut up and take my votes. If Post Malone’s “Goodbyes” video does not win an Oscar then I don’t want to live anymore. The imagery song with audio is by far the best love song of the season, and if my radar is calibrated accurately I believe that he and Yung Thug have a top-charting song. Be ready to hear this gem all summer long.
OF MONSTERS AND MEN - ALLIGATOR
As soon as you watch “Alligator” you’ll totally get why the video is weird as heck. If you get chills watching it, take note that it’s no coincidence. The Band traveled to one of Iceland’s most haunted hotels to shoot the video … creepy? I think so.
GALANTIS & YELLOW CLAW - WE CAN GET HIGH
If you need a quick fix legally and without the effects of a comedown listen to Galantis’ latest collaboration with Yellow Claw. Between these two acts, they give the feeling of feeling high thanks to it’s crashing wave of kicks that takes you straight to the dance floor.
ÄNGIE AND HARRISON FIRST - BAMBAM
Let the Swedish vixen Ängie reel you in with her intoxicating beat. At the drop of the first drum beat, our hearts dropped to the floor and left us wanting to know more about the woman I have som many questions about. But in regards to the single Bambam, the artists said, “When we wrote and produced the songs, I really wanted to create something that felt authentic at the moment, and I hope everyone can relate in some way.
LUCKY DAYE - REAL GAMES
I’ve been meaning to write about Lucky Daye for ever … I mean, just listen to his beat. What is there not to love?! The funk, the soul, the beat, the smoothness… I feel like he could sing the ABC’s and still make us feel hot n bothered.
RICH BRIAN - YELLOW FT. BEKON
A HUGE round of applause to the director of this video Dave Meyers who’s killing it on the screen. And … a huge round of applause this week’s best YouTube commenter who we couldn’t agree with more. “Rich Brian went from literally microwaving bread to getting the bread” - Rae Muse … you go Rich Brian!
BROOKE CANDY - XXXTC FEAT. CHARLI XCX & MALIIBU MIITCH)
AAAggghhhhh!!! This is rated xxxxxxxx. Put earmuffs on the little ones and blast if you blast on high because Brooke Candy goes all out … all vagina out on “XXXTC.” Who needs sex when you can just listen to this … it's guaranteed to leave you satisfied or thirsty as effff.
MARC E BASSY - SAVE ME
Too cool you off from that exxxtacy you just experienced with Mizz Candy we give to you Marc E Bassy who can perhaps save you with “Save Me.” The RnB crooner gives us a much-needed track that can be played when serenading your lover. It’s a gospel-like track is life!
SCHOOLBOY Q - DANGEROUS FEAT KID CUDI
Schoolboy Q and Kid Cudi teach us a life lesson. The lesson is to love and let love because if it’s revenge we seek for the sake of karma then bad sheeeet happens. “If I don’t come back I had a hell of a run” but was it? WAS IT? Was it all worth it? Can’t we just get out of the hood with out blood on our hands? But we all have Schoolboy Q to thank for making pain sound like such beauty.
THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS - GET YOURSELF HIGH
They say that from all bad lip readings come great music creation … just kidding! But what The Chemical Brothers did with their single and video was quite genius … and I bet that this idea came about when they were hiiigh. So hype! Much power.
Opps I guess we did 11 and not 10 … I think I must be high or drunk or just sleep deprived. Hope you enjoyed the best if indie pop. We will see you next week with more. Luvz and hugs and America!
