BEST EDM - WEEK 4 PART 2 2015
We love you so much at BitCandy that we’re going to start throwing two of these Best of Dance Music Posts at you a week. There’s just so much goddamn good music out there in the universe and we would hate to see any of it pass you by. We got our crack team of monkeys and typewriters trying to write Shakespeare. They have headphones in and when they hear something great, we actually get text that resembles that of the bard. It’s weird but it works. We don’t care as long as we can make you happy. Do you like EDM? GOOD. Glad we can help.
Another batch of dance music songs to get you through your week! We got some awesome new stuff from Amtrac, LUMBERJAC, Phace and Lonely Boy. Become acquainted with what you don’t know. Treasure what you do!
AMTRAC - TRULY
Damn, some brand new HUGE disco from Amtrac. He made this track while he was down at BPM in Mexico, soaking in those beach and house vibes. I’m sure this track would have gone OFF there. I really hope he got the opportunity to play it. Snag this free download and close your eyes.
MARTIN GARRIX & MOTI - VIRUS (KSHMR REMIX) (VIP HOUSE VERSION)
You gotta appreciate a good VIP remix. It’s always the producer saying, “Yo, I know I already did this but I work hard and think about things and have a bunch of ideas and more than one of them is good and fuck you I can play it any way I want.” I appreciate KSHMR throwing some House ideas on his own big room remix of this big room track. The sounds and ideas here all make me happier than the original. Cool to see KSHMR playing and exploring.
THE TAILORS - YOU AND ME
Spent the weekend in Denver and one of my friends with the BEST taste in music dropped three tracks from the Tailors that made me look up from all the legal weed I was smoking and ask him who we were listening to. Here, the Netherlands duo plays around with Hall & Oates samples and turns it into a chill house gem. Every track these dudes have is just as interesting. Gotta spread the word on these fools.
FIGURE - PUMKINHEAD FT. KOOL KEITH (LUMBERJVCK REMIX)
I admit it. I love Figure solely because I’m a horror fan. He’s like the Misfits of Dubstep. LUMBERJVCK turns Pumpkinhead into a giant trap anthem. This track is so huge and I can only image mosh-pits of boys throwing fucking elbows like it’s their job.
GLENN MICHAELS - FEELS
Glenn Michaels is a cool new name to me. This is some HUGE sounding piano/future house. A little bit MK, a little bit Oliver Heldens. Get ready for this track to be fuuuucking massive this season. Just get Heldens on the remix and Glenn Michaels will be the next __________. Am I right or am I right?
DOKO - FUTURE BASS
Future Bass! Freak Pop! Chipstep! Bubble&B! YAY! I’m a 15 year old Asian girl.
LONELY BOY - DON'T YOU THINK
The Desert Hearts crew is one of the raddest ones out there right now. These dudes play their own festival twice a year. One Stage — 72 hours of House Techo & Love. This release from Lonely Boy is an example of what’s going on out there. Funky Playa house vibes that carry you on a groove for an entire weekend. Time to pay attention to these dudes. They’re going to start taking over your favorite festivals side stages this year.
JASON LAIDBACK - HIPSTERS
Listening to this song, I immediately start to loathe it. It’s TOTALLY #selfie for hipsters. And then that really pretty rad vocal choral hook comes on and the beat turns up and I shut the fuck up and admit that this song is pretttty fucking rad. Listen to Douglas Greed’s "When A Man Sings On A Track" for a similar take on dance music and hipsters.
PHACE - SHAPE THE RANDOM LP MINIMIX
Neosignal head honcho Phace drops a minimix of his 4th LP, Shape the Random. 5 minutes of excitable, fun party music I love it. Neosignal is known for their more jagged, experimental drum & bass and it’s nice to see the label boss appropriately leading the charge here.
TWINE - KILLING MACHINE VIP
Jesus Christ, filthy dubstep is alive and fucking well. This and other HUGE dubstep tracks drop this week on Smog City Vol. 3. The LA label tells the world to “fuck yo trends.” Glad to see labels sticking to their guns and what made them huge in the first place. I don’t even LIKE dubstep, but it’s refreshing to hear it every time I do.

U ARE BEAUTIFUL.
- KURT
About Kurt Kroeber
From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
