BEST CHILLWAVE - WEEK 44 PART 2 2014

11/1/14

Aahh…its my favorite time of year again. The weather is finally cooling down, girls are busting out their disgusting, dirty Ugg boots, and stores are selling left over Halloween candy for way cheap! So grab a bowl of candy corn, a warm (and/or alcoholic) beverage of your choice, and kick back because we have even more of the best chill out tracks of the week!

AQUILO - HUMAN

Today we’re going to start things off on a pretty emotionally intense note with Aquilo’s latest track, “Human,” that will be featured on their upcoming EP in December. Besides featuring some raw, soulful vocals, this track is packed with the perfect blend of electronic elements and heavy drums to create a wonderfully broody vibe.

DRK - GIVE UP

Beginning with echoey synths and a soft beat full of bass and hi-hats, DRK’s track, “Give Up,” is the perfect instrumental soundtrack for chilling out and recovering from all of your Halloween shenanigans. The atmospheric production will have you falling into a dreamlike state in no time.

GHOST LOFT - BE EASY

Los Angeles’ Ghost Loft will make it hard for you to get out of bed with their wonderfully relaxed track, “Be Easy.” It features synths, a smooth, slow-grooving beat, and vocals that will make you sing along as he repeats the line, “just be easy.” This track has a catchy, yet relaxed electropop vibe that will totally make you a fan.

YOUNG & SICK - HEARTACHE FETISH (TA-KU REWORK)

Australian producer Ta-Ku took Young & Sick’s soulful, R&B-inspired track, “Heartache Fetish,” and reworked it in a way that gives the track a totally emotional makeover. The reworking gives the track an even more mellow vibe, by adding lot’s of clicks and slowing the vocals way down. It’s an awesomely done remix that you’ll definitely want to check out.

ADDAL - I SEE FIRE (FEAT. JASMINE THOMPSON)

Jasmine Thompson will captivate you instantly with her smooth and smokey vocals. Acoustic guitar takes over around the 0:35 mark, and soon shakers and a soft and steady beat are introduced. Things become more urgent around the 2:30 mark as the guitar playing and drums become louder and more intense, making it clear that this version totally trumps Ed Sheeran’s original.

MADBLISS - LUST

Los Angeles’ Madbliss may only be 16 years old, but this producer is already well on his way to creating some buzz-worthy beats. “Lust” is a short, low-key track featuring space-age electronic elements, synths, and an echoey, drum machine beat.

SON LUX - NO FATE AWAITS ME FEAT. FAUX FIX

There’s no question that New York City’s Son Lux knows how to create an emotional listening experience, and his latest song, “No Fate Awaits Me,” definitely resonates a seriously moody vibe. Featured on The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby soundtrack, the track features some haunting vocals from Faux Fix, and its overflowing with epic, ambient elements that make for a truly beautiful four and a half minutes.

STILL PARADE - ACTORS (DINNERDATE REMIX)

Indie-folk band, Still Parade, gets a magical-sounding make over with Dinnerdate’s remix of “Actors.” Although the original was pretty darn dreamy itself, Dinnerdate adds a variety of electronic elements like a clicky hi-hat-induced beat and beautifully swelling synths. It's totally my favorite track on the list.

HOLY OTHER - BLISSTERS

Berlin’s Holy Other will captivate you with their latest cleverly titled track, “Blissters” (no, that is not a typo.) The track has an overwhelmingly ambient vibe as it features swelling elements, a soft, thumping beat, and subtle vocal samples that hold your attention throughout.

WHITE ROYAL - BE TERRESTRIAL

Today we’ll leave you with Leeds’ White Royal. The trio’s latest single, “Be Terrestrial,” has an appropriately Sci-Fi feel as it features atmospheric, swelling synths and a soft beat that slowly grows from a thump to snaps and soft, ride cymbal hits. Milky vocals will hit you around two minutes in, and makes for a beautifully chilling track.

So there you have it— All of the best chill out songs of the week! Now I’m going to get back to my bowl of candy and continue to explore the depths of the internet. Bye!
