BEST CHILL SONGS - WEEK 44 PART 2
With what feels like the longest election season ever quickly coming to an end and the holidays just around the corner, we all need a good list of the best alternative chill tracks of the week more than ever! Luckily, that is where we come in because we have the latest and greatest from artists like James Vincent McMorrow, Mini, Froyo Ma, Goody Grace, and much more. So get cozy and be prepared to take some notes because you’ll be sure to add some of these tracks to your latest fall playlist.
FENNE LILY - BUD
We kick things off on a light and airy “folky” note with FENNE LILY’s new single, “Bud.” The Bristol-based singer-songwriter has just the kind of delicate vocal tone that is the perfect fit for this acoustic guitar-driven song that feels like a warm blast of sunshine.
JAMES VINCENT MCMORROW - RISING WATER (A.K. PAUL REMIX)
We here at BitCandy have been a fan of JAMES VINCENT MCMORROW’s smooth croon for a while now, and A.K. PAUL’s remix of his track “Rising Water” is definitely one of our favorites this week! Funky yet calming guitars, intricate beats, and soft bass keeps you grooving throughout its 4:14 duration and you’ll find yourself coming back to this track again and again.
LULLY - SLOW D’S
New artist LULLY has us all intrigued with their dynamic new single, “Slow D’s.” It features distorted vocals, bass-heavy beats, and tons of glitched-out electronics that make for a seriously awesome track! Definitely one of the best debuts of 2016 and we can’t wait to see what they release next.
MINI - DICES
New Norwegian artist MINI is turning heads with her brand new single, “Dices.” It begins with barely-there keys and atmospherics, soft static, and some beautifully light vocals that instantly put you at ease. After about one minute in, you can feel the energy slowly build while more keys and stronger vocals are added to create what is simply ethereal pop perfection.
TUVABAND - (IT’S NOT ABOUT) RUNNING
And now it’s time for our second Norwegian artist on today’s list, TUVABAND, and their dreamy pop track, “(It’s Not About) Running.” Sparse electric guitar chords carry the song throughout its 4 minute duration, while her striking vocals put you in a delightfully laid-back state of mind. We’re absolutely loving their sound and we can’t wait for more.
FROYO MA - HOME PHONE (FEAT. NICK HAKIM)
FROYO MA has teamed up with Nick Hakim on his hazy new single, “Home Phone.” I love its hypnotic feel caused by softly plucked guitars, psychedelic electronics, a soft beat and easy going vocals. It’s easily one of my favorite tracks of the week.
CONNOR PEARSON - FREE FALL FEAT D.R.A.M.
Young new Scottish artist CONNOR PEARSON is quickly gaining a following and now he’s teamed up with D.R.A.M. on his soulful new track, “Free Fall.” Whispery soft vocals, airy electronics, chimes, and an intricate yet playful beat set the track’s laid-back feel, plus the vocal melody will be stuck in your head in no time.
GOODY GRACE - GIRLS IN THE SUBURBS SINGING SMITHS SONGS
We here at BitCandy can already tell that we’re going to be big fans of new comer GOODY GRACE thanks to his catchy yet chilled-out single, “Girls in the Suburbs Singing Smiths Songs.” Besides the awesome title, the track has memorable attention-grabbing lyrics, along with lonesome sounding guitar chords, soft beats, and an overall relaxing and relatable vibe that you’ll keep coming back to.
ROSY GLOW - FOREVER, IF ONLY WE COULD WAIT
Toronto-based artist ROSY GLOW (love that name, by the way,) creates an ambient soundscape with their song “Forever, If Only We Could Wait.” You’ll instantly feel relaxed the second you hear the receptive softly plucked guitar chords, magical atmospherics, and warming feel that makes us love this short but sweet track.
THE TARANTULA WALTZ & THE TALLEST MAN ON EARTH - THE STRIVE, THE STRIVE, THE STRIVE…
Markus Svensson aka THE TARANTULA WALTZ has teamed up with THE TALLEST MAN ON EARTH on their song “The Strive, The Strive, The Strive…”. The video shows the intimate stripped down setting that is quite fitting for the acoustic guitar-driven track and Svensson’s strong and striking vocals.
