TOP NEW SONGS: TEFLON SEGA - THE FIRE WE LOST

5/2/18

Teflon Sega may be from The Land, but he spends his time cloud surfing. The emerging singer creates worlds with his music, immersing the listener in reverb soaked vocals and spaced-out synths. His latest single, "The Fire We Lost," produced by fellow Clevelander Vikaden, is a whole other solar system for you to get lost in.

Drawing from the same druggy, alternative vibes as The Weeknd and FKA Twigs, this track locks you in with heavy bass and shadowy synth. You come for the future dystopia soundscape, but it’s the pristine vocals that will make you stay. They’re so good and pure, they’ve got peeps out here losing their damned minds.

I guess don’t knock it till you’ve tried it? The whole silk as TP thing seems expensive though. So just listen to Teflon Sega’s vox below.

TEFLON SEGA - THE FIRE WE LOST

Our dude calls his music bizarre & B, which is a very apt description. It’s obvious from the brief output thus far that he’s ready to leave his mark on this genre and possibly even blaze some new trails.

Speaking of blaze, we should mention that this guy seems to really be a reefer enthusiast. A quick look at his Instagram reveals that much. Perhaps more importantly, that same account also shows us that Teflon Sega is in fact… an anime character? Is Teflon Sega even a real person, or another Digital Star like the Gorillaz? What is the nature of reality even? Let’s go to the video for review.

TEFLON SEGA - THE FIRE WE LOST

Not only is he a cartoon, but the world in which he finds himself things seem to be, uh, not going well. To say the least.

I doubt Teflon Sega is gonna do a hologram tour or any of that noise, but we’ll have to wait for him to drop his album this summer and start playing out. The cursory something-search I preformed returned zero-evidence of this artist having played live shows. Which means until further notice TS is nothing more than a drawing.

Maybe it’s not even an artist at all. Maybe this is all just a simulation happening inside your head. We’ll never know for sure. Regardless Imma listen to this song again and watch the video, cause it’s dope and those graphics are cool as hell. Whether I am actually enjoying this song or The Matrix is tricking me into enjoying it, it doesn’t really matter in the end.

Calvin Paradise is not any one thing. The half-hearted vagabond and forgetful luddite currently resides in Los Angeles and how he spends his time is none of your damned business.
