NEW ARTIST FINDS: RAINDEAR

1/22/18

Returning once again to the electronic hotbed of Sweden, Raindear is a New Artist find by Daniel Ragnar. If you have something aurally wonderful to recommend, be sure to sign up at We Are: The Guard and make your discovery heard.

The music scene in the Nordic and Scandinavia seems to be boiling over like a Icelandic volcano. Is there some fire still left to be uncovered in the current electronica hotbed?

While she might be considered a fresh voice here in America, Rebecca Bergcrantz, known by her musical moniker of Raindear, has been creating her own sound for the last several years. With parents being professional musicians, it appeared that this would be an industry that Bergcrantz can easily flourish in. But with such amazing competition in her home country of Sweden, and all over the Nordic Circle, Raindear was hell-bent on developing an electro-pop sound that is distinctive and unique to her peers.

RAINDEAR - DIAMONDS IN MY CHEST

“Diamonds In My Chest,” the newest release from this Swedish beauty, features her powerful, low octave vocals that seemingly reverberates throughout the electronic accompaniment, that features addictive beats and fantastic highs. Sure, the voice might sound like a dude, but Raindear is all lady. None of her works seem repetitive and typical. Rather it seems like a portfolio that includes her depth and sophistication as a musician. Still, it begs the question: if such smooth, mellow electronica can perform well with such fierce competition from the peppier tunes from even artists from her own country.
