BEST NEW TRACKS: PHOEBE RYAN - FORGETTING ALL ABOUT YOU FEAT. BLACKBEAR

8/8/17

The break-up process consists of many stages, and for some reason, the best part of that cycle gets glossed over in every song about heartbreak. But it is a known fact that after the arduous period of sleeping in and starving yourself until 3 PM, of crying in the shower and drinking wine by yourself in your living room, comes a day when you wake up and realize that it’s time to go out, put on some lipstick and just wreck yourself. Out of respect for the break-up process, and for the good of your soul.

Finally, there is a song about this ironic self-destruction. Phoebe Ryan’s “Forgetting All About You” flips the break-up anthem on its head by donning a carefree attitude towards lost loves. Being single doesn’t have to sound so depressing anymore. Listen to “Forgetting All About You” below.

PHOEBE RYAN - FORGETTING ALL ABOUT YOU FEAT. BLACKBEAR

With some help from Blackbear, Phoebe Ryan curates a fun pop song made for the radio -- think along the lines of Charli XCX’s “Boys.” Ryan’s imagery in her song is relatable too; getting high in your underwear is a basic uniform for someone still wading knee-deep in the heartbreak waters.

soundcloudThe self-destructive phase of the break-up is dark and surprisingly bleak. Phoebe Ryan definitely nails this on the head. “I’m losing it, so what?” Ryan sings. “It’s probably, probably alright.” Listening to this track feels like a catharsis, like being on the verge of drinking one too many shots but still somewhat coherent. In an hour, you’ll be puking on the toilet and crying about your ex. But in this moment, you feel like you’ll finally be okay.

Phoebe Ryan is on the cusp of breaking out; she’s ALREADY collaborated with the Chainsmokers, for crying out loud. Familiarize yourself with her Soundcloud before she really blows up.
