BEST NEW SONGS: LOW CUT HIGH TOPS - GOOD DAY

12/20/15

We last checked in with Low Cut High Tops in August and he was rocking sh*t out. The year is now coming to a close, and David Burns is still making some rim rocking indie jams in his bedroom, the latest of which is “Good Day.”

As the first single off his upcoming debut Eh, Whatever, “Good Day” is more of the electro-folk meets indie rock combo that first put Burns on trendy blogs radar. This cut may be the most accessible and pop-centric song we’ve heard yet from LCHT, but at its core is a guitar riff that channels the likes of Joey Santiago (Pixies) and Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse). In fact, the riff in question sounds like a mash up of sorts of “Float On” and “Where Is My Mind,” or maybe the Holidays have already broken my brain.

“Good Day” is a signal of bigger things ahead for Burns. Even though it’s still December, this track is the jumping off point for what promises to be a very big 2016 for Low Cut High Tops.
