BEST OF INDIE POP - WEEK 51

12/19/19

It’s pretty much the last indie-pop post of 2019 unless if I miraculously am sober enough to function next week. So with that being the case, I figured I might as well make today’s playlist the best of the best and throw in a certain rapper’s leaked sex tape video to make this post go viral. Just kidding, we clicked, we saw, we yawned/rotfl. Besides no lame sex tapes will ever be shown no WATG, unless they of course involve nacho cheese then we may reconsider. For real though, let’s get down to business and the real reason why we are all gathered here today.

This week’s featured best pop music comes from Kali Uchis, KnowKnow, Macklemore, and more.

KALI UCHIS - SOLITA

Uchis serves more looks in the “Solita” video than all the contestants combined in the Miss Universe pageant. And in case you didn’t know this Kali Uchis is the most beautiful intergalactic Disney princess vixen I have ever seen. Watch, admire, and get ideas on what to wear to your holiday party.

MXMTOON - UNSPOKEN WORDS

Tear my heart out mxmtoon, my heart is yours. This young up and coming artist pours her heart and soul in the beautiful visuals for “Unspoken Words.” if this isn’t the most tender heartwarming song out there right now then slap me and join me for some noodles as we debate over how great mxmtoon really is.

MACKLEMORE - IT’S CHRISTMAS TIME FEAT DAN CAPLEN

This one is pretty self-explanatory, it needs no commentary. You know the drill people :)

KESHA - RESENTMENT FEAT. STURGILL SIMPSON, BRIAN WILSON, WRABEL

Freaking Kesha keeps knocking my socks off. Look at this collaboration… BRIAN WILSON!!! Brian is obviously not sleeping on Kesha being a super star, he’s on the train and knows that this woman is nothing short of mad talent.

MARC E BASSY - NASCAR

I wonder if the introduction is true. Is everything outside of New York and Los Angeles similar to this love story that Marc sings about? Life around our cement jungle seems to always be non stop, so listening to a slower pace of life seems desirable. Road trip anyone?

FREE NATIONALS - GIDGET FEAT ANDERSON .PAAK & T. NAVA

Free Nationals released their self-titled debut album last week and we’ve been non stop groovin’ to their beats. As one of the most diverse and entertaining albums of the year it is only natural we drop one of their singles here for you to enjoy. “Gidget” is one smooth groovy ride you’ll enjoy playing over and over and over.

DUA LIPA - FUTURE NOSTALGIA

Dua Lipa continues to step her game in the realm of over-complicated relationships that translate to radio-friendly songs. She struts around reminding us that she is a female alpha and men should beware. She’s hot enough to enjoy “Future Nostalgia,” but too hot to handle in a relationship.

KNOWKNOW - R&B ALL NIGHT

Asian rapper KnowKnow has become an obsession of mine and will become one of yours as well. His smoothness is pure and his act is more than entertaining. “R&B All Night” has baby-making written all over it.

LOLO ZOUAI - CHAIN

We’ve become accustomed to Lolo Zouai’s vein of slow sultry bedroom pop and I don’t think we can ever grow tired of it. That voice has the power to soothe sore throats and souls.

DOG ORCHESTRA - CAROL OF THE BELLS

We close off the list with one of our releases from Christmas past. Indie duo Dog Orchestra are here to add a dark twist to Carol of The Bells.

Enjoy everyone, and remember, we have a new year coming which means new mistakes, new adventures, and of course new music.

Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
